How can we be of service?

Items and stock

We have a few tips and tricks to help you find your perfect fit.

  • If you already own a ring that fits, simply measure the inner diameter of the ring on a ruler (not including the edge). The measurement in millimetres is your European ring size.
  • You can also place the ring on the circles of our size guide – scaled to 100% and printed – to easily check.
  • Alternatively, place the ring on these circles. The circle that matches the inner edge of the ring indicates your size.
  • Without using a ring, cut out and wrap our Amsterdam Vintage Jewels measurer around your finger (scaled to 100% and printed). The number that meets the dotted lines is your ring size.
  • Our professionals are happy to help you too. Book an appointment at Amsterdam Vintage Jewels HQ for expert assistance and to try on your favourite rings.

Extra tips:

  • Every finger is different and your fingers may differ in size on each hand. Always measure your ring size on the finger you want to wear the ring on. Take the thickness of the ring into account: the thicker the ring, the tighter it will sit. With a very thick ring, take half a size bigger and with a very thin ring, half a size smaller.
  • If you are in doubt between two sizes, take the larger size to be sure.
  • Only measure your finger when your hands are at a normal temperature. Heat and cold make your fingers vary in size. It helps to measure at two different times on two different days to be sure you are right.
  • If you have a ring with a stone in mind, it’s even more important to measure accurately so the stone doesn’t turn when you wear the ring.
  • We don’t accept returns of engraved items. Therefore, it’s best to fit a ring before you have it engraved.
  • Use this table to convert your ring size from circumference to diameter or vice versa.

All our vintage rings are unique and in our opinion, that makes it extra fun! As there is only one of each ring, it’s rare that a sold-out item will be returned. However, you can enter your email address on the product page to be notified if it’s back in stock or a similar item is added. Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know each time new jewels arrive online.

We understand the feeling of knowing exactly what you want! Feel free to contact us about special requests and we’ll do our best to find the perfect piece. The details matter, so include a clear description and examples of what you’re looking for. You can also book an appointment at Amsterdam Vintage Jewels HQ and we’ll take a look together.

We’re committed to quality and only work with pure gold from 9-18 carat. The carat content varies per product. You can find the metal and carat content in the name and product description of every item.

We don’t sell gold plated and silver jewellery. Our jewellery is designed to last for generations, and by exclusively offering carat gold, we guarantee the quality and that the colour lasts.

Every purchase from our conscious collection comes with a certificate of authenticity. For our vintage items, the receipt is sufficient proof of authenticity. We don’t issue a certificate for these items (because they’re not manufactured by us), but the quality is assured by our expert goldsmith.

Each piece of jewellery is made with a hallmark, and we aim to only sell pieces that have this. However, vintage jewellery has a history (all pieces are at least 10 years old), and in that time it can be customised or resized several times. Sometimes this means that the quality mark is lost but it does not alter the fact that the jewellery is 100% pure gold.

You can find it inside the ring or on the clasp of a bracelet, earring or necklace.

If something goes wrong with your jewellery and it’s no longer under warranty, you can still contact us for a repair. Our goldsmith will assess it and give you a quote. We will always present the costs to you first.

We care about people and the planet, and strive for complete sustainability. The first step towards this is to work with only vintage products and a collection made from 100% recycled gold. We don’t use any new raw materials unnecessarily and make sustainable choices at every opportunity.

The gems featured in the conscious collection are guaranteed to come from conflict-free areas.

Payments

We accept iDeal, PayPal, Apple Pay, Mastercard, Visa and Klarna.

Klarna performs a check as soon as you choose this as the payment method. It takes into account your payment history, the amount and in some cases external information from a credit agency. Based on this information, it determines whether the purchase can be approved. If you are unable to pay via Klarna, you can complete the order by choosing another payment option.

If you have an order delivered outside the EU, import costs and/or taxes may be charged. Find up-to-date information on the customs website of the country you live in.

Simply select the value you require and add the gift card to your cart. Order a gift card here or find it on our website under “categories”.

There’s an option to enter a discount or gift card code after you’ve selected an item and added it to your shopping cart – find it on the right side of the page. The discount will then be deducted at the time of payment.

Shipping and returns

If you order a piece of jewellery before 16:00, chances are that your package will be delivered the next day. Sometimes shipping takes a little longer for reasons out of our control (deliveries are handled by DHL), but we do our utmost to deliver as soon as possible. If a ring requires resizing, please keep in mind that this will take up to 5 working days before we send the ring.

We ship all orders via DHL and they are therefore automatically insured against loss or theft.

Resizing a ring takes 5 working days. Including shipping time, it usually takes 7 working days to receive your ring.

An average repair takes 14 working days, depending on what needs to be repaired. You can contact us by email for more information about the timeframe.

You’ll receive an email notification as soon as your order has been processed. Then, when your package arrives at the distribution centre (usually around midnight, the same day that you completed your order), you’ll receive your track and trace code. With international orders, you’ll receive the track and trace code almost immediately after ordering.

Sometimes orders are delayed for reasons outside of our control. If your order is delayed, please send an email to hello@amsterdamvintagejewels.com and we can contact the delivery service.

Import duties will be charged on countries outside of Europe. Local Charges will be applied on your order. AVJ is not responsible for any charge on orders outside of Europe on vintage collection.

Vintage: import duties paid by customer

Concsious collection: import duties are paid by AVJ

Note: there is not VAT on vintage products so therefore we won’t reimburse the costs.

Shipping costs to country of origin and shipping to country of order will not be paid back when duties are not paid.

Ordering before 16.00 means we will package and ship your jewellery that day. However, we cannot guarantee that your order will be delivered the next day. During busy periods, DHL requires more time to deliver.

Since you have to sign for your package when you receive it, the courier will try to deliver the package the next working day if you are not at home.

A return within the Netherlands is free. If you send your return from abroad, this incurs additional costs, which will be deducted from the amount you are refunded. Remember to send your package with insurance as it’s important that we receive it safely to process your return.

These are DHL’s standard delivery costs:

Belgium & Luxembourg €19,50

Germany €19,50

UK, France, Denmark & Austria €19,50

Italy, Spain, Poland & Czech Republic €29,95

Finland, Ireland, Portugal, Romania & Sweden €25

Greece & Switzerland €25

The rest of Europe €25

The rest of the world €40

We hope you love your jewels as much as we do but if you’re not completely satisfied, you can always return your order within 14 days. We guarantee a full refund provided the items are in perfect condition and in the original packaging.

Exceptions: rings that have been resized cannot be returned, nor can earrings due to hygiene reasons.

If you live in the Netherlands or Belgium the return is free. You can email hello@amsterdamvintagejewels.com to request a return label. We recommend that you keep the proof of shipping with tracking information. If you send the package with your own return label, the shipping costs are at your own expense and we do not accept responsibility for lost packages.

You can download the return form here. Make sure your box is well packed, in the original box or another sturdy cardboard box. Include the return form and the original packing slip/invoice with the package. Make sure the box is securely closed and taped.

Jewellery maintenance

Precious metals must be maintained so that they can shine on for years to come. Here’s how to make them last:

Gold

Gold jewellery can dull over time. This is due to things like the acidity of your skin or perfume or soap residues. Clean gold pieces with gold cleaning liquid, which is widely available. Place the jewellery in an immersion basket and allow the liquid to take effect for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.

Gemstones

At Amsterdam Vintage Jewels we only work with the best metals and stones. Like gold, gemstones, can become dull after a while. You can clean the stone with warm water, dish soap and a soft brush. Brush and rinse well on all sides. Then let the item dry on a soft dry cloth. Important: this does not apply to opals, turquoise and lapis. These gems should not come in contact with water and we advise removing them before showering.

Diamonds

You can make diamonds sparkle again by mixing six parts of water with one part of ammonia. Just brush with a soft brush and voila, as good as new!
